Today we did not rest

Photos of Pavlov taken from the nearby castle flooded Facebook yesterday, as competitors took the chance to take the short hike up the hill and do some sightseeing. Not a true lay day though, as it was dominated by waiting for the wind. That was yesterday.

Today was a completely different story. Today it was all about racing. Everyone was focused around it and everything in Nove Mlyny was there to help follow through.

The plan:
Two races
Break
Two races
Party

It is not always as scheduled in windsurfing, but this time it sure was. Jana Slivova added four more bullets making it 10 overall and extending her lead in first place. Naturally Jana was very happy, but as she said later it was hard work and winter training that had put her in top spot. Aleksandra Blinnika from Finland is second, Vita Matise from Latvia is third.

The variety of conditions today resulted with the overall standings getting a little stir in the men’s fleet. Jana’s brother Jakub won the last race and Aron Gadorfalvi from Hungary got two race wins. It was also a good day for the reigning European Champion Max Wójcik from Poland, who got his first win of the championship. Max is out of the race for top spot in the Czech Republic, but still in contention for a podium place. “I’m very happy with the win, at last I will have the gold marking on the results next to my name, but I’m not even close to Joao Rodrigues. He really knows how to sail. I think he has also done some fine tuning to the equipment, so after while he just disappears into the distance, I have no idea how he does it. One race win is a good feeling, but I’m not ready to win an event like this yet.” - Max said at the end of the long day.

There you have it, with just one day left in the championship we look forward to tomorrow and some more good racing.
